Privacy Policy

SameSide turns an Instagram likes export into a personal profile and uses that profile for matching and events. This policy explains the information the app handles.

1. Information SameSide collects

  • Google sign-in. We receive your Google account identifier and email address. Google sign-in does not give SameSide access to your Gmail, Drive, contacts, or Calendar.
  • Instagram export. We read liked-post URLs, post identifiers, and available like timestamps from the ZIP you provide. We use the URLs to retrieve the corresponding public post media. SameSide never asks for your Instagram password or logs in to your Instagram account.
  • Profile. We store your birth date, gender, matching preferences, ZIP code, and submitted availability.
  • Matching and events. We store proposals, ballot responses, registrations, attendance responses, match history, and assigned date or event details.
  • Generated results. We create embeddings, clusters, summaries, compatibility signals, and profile snapshots from the information above.
  • Messages. If you contact us, we receive the information in your message.

2. How SameSide uses information

We use this information to sign you in, create your Wrapped and profile, run matching and events, arrange dates, send service emails, and troubleshoot the app. SameSide does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

3. Service providers

SameSide uses service providers for hosting and storage, public Instagram media retrieval, automated processing, email, and optional calendar invitations. Each provider receives the information needed for its task. Providers used only for Instagram media retrieval or automated processing do not receive your Google account identifier or email address.

4. Information shown to other users

A potential match may see your age, gender, generated profile text, cluster names and descriptions, and representative Instagram post links. Event match cards do not include post links. Mutual matches may receive each other's email addresses and date or event details.

Other users do not see your raw ZIP, birth date, ZIP code, complete liked-post history, embeddings, Google account identifier, or private ballot choices.

5. Cookies

SameSide uses essential cookies to keep you signed in, complete Google sign-in, and connect a pre-login upload to your account. SameSide does not use advertising or tracking cookies.

6. Retention

  • We delete a source ZIP after successful processing.
  • We delete abandoned pre-login ZIPs after one day and failed-import ZIPs after seven days.
  • We remove downloaded Instagram media and worker files after each processing attempt.
  • Processed account, profile, matching, event, and generated records remain in the SameSide database.

SameSide does not currently have self-service account deletion. Email [email protected] with questions about stored information.

7. Your choices

  • You can choose not to upload an Instagram export or complete a dating profile.
  • You can edit your profile and matching preferences in SameSide.
  • You can disconnect SameSide from your Google Account. This does not delete information already stored by SameSide.
  • You can contact [email protected] about your information.

8. Security

SameSide uses HTTPS, signed production cookies, and private archive storage.

9. Age requirement

SameSide's dating and event features are for people who are at least 18 years old.
